Altwood, Maidenhead Driveway Project

Decorative gravel

Removal of tree roots

Reshaping of lawn

about this project

We undertook this project on a beautiful property in the Altwood area of Maidenhead working closely with the owner David who reached out to us online.

In the Altwood area of Maidenhead, just off the A4 Bath Road, is this wonderful property set back in a secluded cul-de-sac. We were contacted by David who wanted to transform his front driveway to be a well-presented, stylish and functional entrance.

To the front of the property is a significant entrance come driveway used for the owners vehicles, and is also the primary access to the front of the house. David was very clear he wanted a decorative gravel finish, but before this could be laid, we needed to remove the existing tarmac base which was showing the impact of weathering and time.

Numerous skips were used to remove the old base and debris. We were also very conscious this was the owner's only access to the property, therefore it was critical to work hand-in-hand with them to avoid any obstruction to their daily affairs.

The job was complicated slightly as there were a number of existing tree roots which needed removing. But once this was circumnavigated, we were able to continue laying the sub base, followed by the decorative grey gravel.

To provide an elegant finish, grey sandstone bricks were used to border the existing flower beds and lawn area on the far side of the driveway.
